We all have those days (or weeks, months, even years) when fitness and eating well feels more like a chore or looming dread than something to get excited about. It can be difficult to keep motivated especially when you have certain results in mind and can’t crack that plateau, on top of all the other crazy moving parts in daily modern life (work, family, trying to have some fun here and there, etc!). This post will share a few favorite paraphrased sayings that all of us can turn to when feeling less than enthusiastic about our fitness journey. Keep them around in case you need a boost!
Every step you take is one less step you have to.
-This applies particularly to running. Whether sprinting shuttle runs or trying to hit that final mile mark, tell yourself that every step brings you that much closer. And you can knock it out one at a time!
Moving in any direction is better than not moving at all.
-You’re not going to smash it out of the park every day. But showing up to the gym or going on that run or walk is always better than being complacent or afraid of hard work.
Compete against your own shadow. Your journey is for you, and you alone!
-Never compare your body, ability, or results to anyone else. Fitness is the biggest gift you can give yourself; real self love at its purest. Compete against your own personal best and no one else’s.
If you stay ready, you never have to get ready.
-Lasting results are achieved over long periods of time with consistent choices and work. There is no way to fake this, and there is no quick fix to suddenly ‘be ready’. Keep consistent and you’ll never have to rush or panic.
Nobody can work out for you; results don’t lie.
-This ending message is plain and simple. The work can’t be faked; if you want to achieve your goals nobody is going to hit the gym for you.
